The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants in the caretaker government, Abdullah Bou Habib, received a call from his Swedish counterpart, Tobias Billström, during which the latter expressed the Swedish government's regret and condemnation of the desecration of the Holy Quran and the offense to Islamic beliefs and symbols. For his part, Bou Habib welcomed this stance and encouraged him to "take additional practical steps in this area to curb the growing manifestations of hatred and Islamophobia." He also affirmed Lebanon's respect and commitment to taking all possible measures to ensure the safety of Swedish interests and nationals on its territory, in accordance with the Vienna Convention governing diplomatic relations between states.
