The Earth Association - Lebanon has reported environmental atrocities against the largest natural pine forest in the Middle East, the Sfirah Forest in the Minieh-Dinnieh district, where ancient pine trees are being cut down for commercial purposes without obtaining logging permits from the Ministry of Agriculture. This negatively impacts biodiversity and the environment in the district.
The association stated in a press release that it "issues this publication as a report to the concerned authorities: Minister of Agriculture Abbas Al-Hajj Hassan, Minister of Environment Nasser Yassin, Governor of the North Ramzi Nahra, Dinnieh District Chief Jane Hawli Al-Marr, Public Environmental Prosecutor in the North Judge Ghassan Basil, and Internal Security Forces."
