Egyptian Minister of Supply Reveals Country's Wheat Stock

Egypt's Minister of Supply, Ali Moselhi, announced that "the country's wheat reserve is sufficient for 5 months." He made this statement during the inauguration of a factory in East El-Owainat, southern Egypt, in the presence of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. He noted that "Egypt's local wheat production amounts to 10 million tons over an area of 3.2 million acres." Moselhi confirmed that "2 million tons of wheat have been supplied to the Ministry of Supply so far, and we are approximately halfway through the season, thus the target is close to 4 million tons," pointing out that "the state is working to increase local production to reduce the import bill." Regarding the self-sufficiency rates of strategic commodities and strategic reserves, he clarified that "the self-sufficiency rate for sugar is 7 months, rice is 3 months, oils 4 months, meat 3.5 months, and poultry 8 months."
