World Bank Suspends Funding Operations in Niger

The World Bank stated today, Wednesday, that it is "concerned" about the efforts to overthrow the democratically elected government in Niger and has suspended funding for all its operations there until further notice, except for its partnerships with the private sector. It added in a statement, "In response to the coup, the World Bank has halted payments for all operations until further notice, except for private sector partnerships which will continue cautiously."
