Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the success of the campaign against the "Islamic Jihad" movement in the Gaza Strip. During a speech at a government session on Sunday, Netanyahu stated that his orders were "surprising and preemptive. We destroyed 17 Islamic Jihad sites and killed their members." He said, "Since the formation of the government months ago, I have said that those who try to target us should blame only themselves, and our enemies in Gaza and beyond now know that if they try to hide, we can reach them at any time." Earlier, a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Palestinian factions in Gaza went into effect on Sunday night, ending a round of mutual shelling that lasted for 5 days, in which 34 Palestinians were killed.
