Mixed Performance of Indices at the Opening of Wall Street

The major indices on Wall Street showed mixed performance at the opening today, Monday, amid pressures from investors' concerns that the monetary tightening by the Federal Reserve could harm the country's economy, along with a decline in Pfizer's shares after its decision to abandon the development of a weight loss drug. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 3.36 points or 0.01 percent at the opening to 33,730.79 points, while the S&P 500 index fell by 3.49 points or 0.08 percent to 4,344.84. The Nasdaq Composite dropped by 23.77 points or 0.18 percent to 13,468.75 points.
