A cyber attack has affected computers in hospitals and healthcare centers across several U.S. states, forcing some emergency rooms to close and redirecting ambulances, according to the news agency "Russia Today." The attack disrupted facilities managed by Prospect Medical Holdings, based in California, which oversees hospitals as well as healthcare facilities in Texas, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Pennsylvania. The attack also led to the closure of emergency departments in Manchester and Rockville public hospitals in Connecticut, resulting in the transfer of some patients. Several primary care centers remained closed today, including elective surgery departments, outpatient appointments, and blood donation drives, while officials stated they are "still trying to determine the extent of the issue."
