Queen Elizabeth's Funeral on September 19

Buckingham Palace announced today that the funeral ceremony for Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away on Thursday in Scotland, will take place on September 19 in London. Officials from around the world are expected to attend this funeral, which will be held at Westminster Abbey at 11:00 AM local time (10:00 AM GMT). Additionally, Edward Fitzalan-Howard, the Duke of Norfolk and the official responsible for the ceremonies, stated that the queen’s coffin, after 70 years of reign, will be transported from Balmoral Castle to Edinburgh tomorrow, Sunday, before being flown to London on Tuesday. The body will lie in Westminster Hall at the UK Parliament from Wednesday until the morning of the funeral. Royal officials indicated that there will be an opportunity to view the late queen's coffin, made of oak, during its journey from Balmoral Castle in Scotland to Edinburgh and again in London, where her body will be laid in state for four days starting Wednesday. The body is currently resting in a coffin covered with the Scottish royal flag, adorned with a floral wreath in a hall at Balmoral Castle in northeast Scotland. The queen's coffin will be transported by road for 290 km from the remote residence to the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh on Sunday. In the Scottish capital, the coffin will be moved from Holyroodhouse to St. Giles’ Cathedral, where it will remain until Tuesday. It will later be flown to Buckingham Palace in London before the queen lies in state at Westminster Hall starting Wednesday. After the funeral service at Westminster Abbey, the body will be transferred to St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in west London.
