South Korean Defense Minister Lee Jong-sup stated today, Saturday, that some countries "ignore North Korea's illegal behavior." He added during a speech at one of the Shangri-La Dialogue meetings, a prominent Asian security summit in Singapore, that this creates gaps in the sanctions imposed by the United Nations Security Council on North Korea.
China and Russia ignored a U.S. appeal to the Security Council on Friday to unite in condemning North Korea for a recent attempt to launch a satellite, even blaming Washington for escalating tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
