US Disrupts Oil Shipment for Iranian Revolutionary Guard

The United States indicated today, Friday, that it "disrupted a shipment of millions of dollars in crude oil linked to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, being shipped in violation of sanctions imposed on Iran." It also noted that it seized "over 980,000 barrels of smuggled crude oil." The Department of Justice stated in a release: "The illegal sale and transport of Iranian oil constitute a violation of the sanctions imposed on Iran." It added: "The company 'Empire Navigation,' operating the tanker, agreed to cooperate and transport the Iranian oil to the United States," describing this as "the first criminal charge of such a sale that violates sanctions."
