Vatican Envoy Visits Washington

The Vatican has announced that Italian Cardinal Matteo Zuppi is heading to Washington today to meet with U.S. officials as part of ongoing talks that began during visits to Kyiv and Moscow. This mission is commissioned by Pope Francis to mediate for peace in Ukraine. The statement noted that "Zuppi's visit will last three days," but did not specify the officials the cardinal will meet. The Vatican emphasized that the "visit aims to promote peace in Ukraine and support humanitarian initiatives to alleviate the suffering of those most affected and vulnerable, especially children."
