While the living crisis remains unchanged and even worsens, the political crisis does not seem to be in a better state. Political sources noted that the political movement recorded in recent days of the year has not yet produced any actual results, pending the translation of the promises made by MP Gibran Bassil during these meetings. In the context of rumors about an initiative that the "Strong Republic" bloc intends to promote at the beginning of the new year, Lebanese Forces leader and former MP Wahi Qataisha denied the existence of any such initiative at present in an interview with the electronic newspaper "Al-Anbaa." He stated that the Forces' presidential candidate is MP Michel Mouawad and that the issue of replacing him with another candidate is not viable except in the minds of those opposing his candidacy. He emphasized that the team supporting Mouawad's nomination cannot present an alternative without a request from Mouawad himself. This is not limited to the Lebanese Forces alone, as there are other allies supporting his nomination, including the Democratic Gathering, the Kataeb party, and several independent MPs. Qataisha reiterated that MP Bassil had tried to communicate with the Lebanese Forces, "but we refused because he has lost his credibility with us."
