Tyre's Al-Mansouri Beach witnessed a celebration yesterday evening, Tuesday, for the release of juvenile loggerhead sea turtles (Caretta caretta). This event was organized by environmental activist and sea turtle protection expert Fadia Joma, as part of the "BLUETYRE" project, a local partnership for sustainable marine and coastal development between the Italian municipality of Trikaze and the Lebanese municipality of Tyre. The project is funded by the Italian Agency for Development and Cooperation, in collaboration with the Message Scouts in Al-Mansouri.
A large number of environmental enthusiasts, activists, journalists, residents of Al-Mansouri, and nature lovers attended the release. The event included an awareness campaign led by Joma about sea turtles in Lebanon and the natural significance of Al-Mansouri, complemented by interactions and engagement from the attendees. The day concluded with the release of the juvenile turtles into the sea.
