The head of the office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Andriy Yermak, revealed on Monday that "Ukraine expects to receive a clear invitation to join NATO with facilitation when the military alliance holds its summit next month in Lithuania." He reiterated Ukraine's position regarding joining NATO in statements published after Russia thwarted the advance of the Wagner Group fighters towards Moscow early this week. Yermak stated in a briefing to German media: "Ukraine's position is that we are waiting to receive an invitation for facilitated membership at the summit taking place in July; more importantly, we would like to receive a clear signal that will pave the way for Ukraine's accession to NATO."
