Kurdistan Opposes Changes to the Iraqi Federal Budget Law

The government of the semi-autonomous Kurdistan Region in Iraq announced on Friday that it opposes changes made by some members of the Finance Committee in the House of Representatives to the Iraqi budget law project due to "violations of the rights of the Kurdish people." The Kurdish government added that it "will not adhere to any decision other than the agreement signed with Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad al-Sudani." This refers to an agreement between Erbil and Baghdad that establishes a framework for the resumption of crude oil flows from the region in Northern Iraq through Turkey.
