An Egyptian court has issued a decision to refer the papers of a driver to the Mufti of the Republic for a legal opinion on the issue of his execution, charged with assaulting his mother and having relations with her under threat of a weapon.
Investigations conducted by officers from the Dekheila Police Department revealed that the accused, identified as (M.M.A), a tuk-tuk driver, returned home where his 68-year-old mother (K.E.K) had prepared dinner for him. Afterward, she returned to her room to sleep. Minutes later, she was surprised when the accused entered her room armed with a knife, having locked the windows and doors and cut off the electricity to establish an illicit relationship with her.
The investigations showed that the victim attempted to resist the accused, but he threatened to kill her and assaulted her forcibly, warning her against informing anyone, stating that death would be her fate. She then reported the incident to security authorities, and the case was referred to the relevant investigative bodies, which decided to transfer it to the Alexandria Criminal Court, which subsequently referred the papers to the Mufti of the Republic.
The incidents date back to a case filed in 2022 when security forces received a report about a driver assaulting his mother at their residence under threat of a weapon.
