Republican Senator Josh Hawley announced that the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously approved a bill calling for the declassification of all government intelligence regarding the origin of the coronavirus. He stated that "people need to know the truth." Earlier, FBI Director Christopher Wray indicated that "the bureau considers the most likely hypothesis to be that the origin of the coronavirus is from a lab, and that a lab incident in Wuhan is a probable source of the pandemic." Furthermore, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources, that "U.S. officials concluded that the coronavirus leaked from a lab." On December 31, 2019, Chinese authorities informed the World Health Organization about an outbreak of an unknown pneumonia in Wuhan, central China. In early January 2020, it was officially announced in China that a new type of coronavirus was the cause of the outbreak of viral pneumonia of unknown origin, and on March 11, 2020, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus considered the spread of the new coronavirus to be of a pandemic nature. Chinese authorities have denied U.S. accusations on multiple occasions and emphasized that Washington seeks to politicize this issue.
