The media office of the Minister of Social Affairs in the caretaker government, Hector Al-Hajjar, announced regarding the "Aman" program that "following numerous inquiries from citizens and based on the repeated recommendations of the ministerial committee for the 'Aman' program to expand the range of beneficiaries due to the difficult economic conditions, and after consultations with partners and coordination with the World Bank, Al-Hajjar initiated a proposal to Prime Minister Najib Mikati, who granted exceptional approval on 5/3/2023." He explained in a statement that "the proposal includes benefiting a larger number of the poorest families according to the following criteria: - Small families: persons with disabilities and the elderly, who had registered, were visited, and underwent post-visit assessments to ensure their entitlement to benefit. Following this exceptional approval, 10,459 new Lebanese families will benefit from the program, with payments set to begin at the end of May 2023."
