FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced today, Thursday, that Argentina has submitted an official bid to host the Under-20 World Cup this year, following Indonesia being stripped of its rights to organize the tournament. Speaking at a press conference in Paraguay, where he will participate in the annual meeting of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) tomorrow, he stated, "We all know Argentine football and it can definitely host a tournament of this level." He added, "There are other countries that have expressed interest as well, but with government guarantees and other details, Argentina is the primary candidate, and we will make a decision within two or three days." Argentina was the only country to submit an official bid. FIFA's office will determine whether to accept the proposal within the next two to three days. The tournament is scheduled to start on May 20.
