France Advises Its Citizens Against Traveling to Lebanon

The French embassy published a statement today, Wednesday, via the "X" platform, stating: "Gatherings will take place in various neighborhoods of Beirut (the southern suburbs, downtown, main roads) starting at noon. These gatherings are likely to create difficulties in access and movement within these cities." The statement continued: "It is strongly advised to avoid any of the gatherings, to stay informed about traffic conditions and developments, especially through local media, and to follow the security instructions of the Lebanese authorities. One can check the Twitter account of the Lebanese security forces (in Arabic) for information on accessible roads. The emergency number 112 provides information in both French and English. The security situation in Lebanon/traveling to Lebanon." It concluded: "Given the security tensions in the region, especially on Lebanon's southern border, we do not advise French citizens wishing to visit or stay in Lebanon to go to this country, except for urgent reasons."
