Turkish Ship Leaves Italian Waters

The website "Marine Traffic" reported that the Turkish cargo ship, which had Italian special forces board it yesterday, Friday, after the crew discovered a group of unidentified individuals on board, has left the waters off the city of Naples in southern Italy, while the police continue to investigate the incident. Local media reported, citing the ship's captain, that he "notified the Italian police after seeing two individuals carrying knives." The Ansa news agency stated, "A pregnant woman was among the migrants, who hold Syrian, Iraqi, and Iranian nationalities," indicating that "three of them were charged with possession of weapons." It noted that "two women were taken to the hospital while the rest were sent to a reception center for migrants." Guido Crosetto tweeted, "Everything ended well," congratulating the special forces and the police on the successful operation. "The hijackers of the ship have been captured. Everything is fine. My compliments to the guys from the San Marco Battalion, the policemen, and the financial police, who completed a wonderful operation in collaboration. Each in their part. Well done!"
