The Turkish Ministry of Transport and the Tribeca Shipping Agency announced today, Tuesday, that maritime traffic from the Aegean Sea to the Sea of Marmara has been suspended due to a forest fire in the Çanakkale area in the northwestern part of the country. The Dardanelles Strait is a crucial shipping route for vessels traveling between Europe and Asia, and it is a narrow passage of historical significance connecting the Aegean Sea to the Black Sea. The Turkish Ministry of Transport stated in a statement, "Tugboats are preparing to intervene if the fire spreads to the waterfront, providing additional support for ongoing firefighting operations."
