The head of the Lebanese Forces Party, Samir Jaafar, announced the agreement between the opposition forces and the Free Patriotic Movement to nominate former minister Jihad Azzour for the presidency. He noted that "the movement has informed the opposition forces of its commitment to this nomination, but negotiations are still ongoing to discuss the strategy following the agreement." He confirmed that "Azzour will receive more than 65 votes along with the votes from the Free Patriotic Movement," thus ruling out the possibility of "Speaker of the Parliament Nabih Berri calling for an election session, as the resistance axis candidate will not receive more than 55 votes." Jaafar also ruled out the possibility of the deputies from the Progressive Socialist Party resorting to blank voting, as the party leader Walid Jumblatt is the one who nominated him.
