Increased Prices of Baby Formula: The Impact of Subsidy Removal

"The support for baby formula has been definitively lifted" ... is news we don't know how to categorize. On one hand, it will certainly bring joy to a significant number of parents who have exhausted their efforts searching through pharmacies for a can of formula for their children, which will naturally become available after its price increase. On the other hand, it has hit like a thunderbolt for others who cannot afford the additional costs that will increase prices and their suffering simultaneously.

So, support has been entirely removed; how have the prices changed? The mtv website contacted a pharmacy to get an update on the new prices, which are now as follows: Various types of formula suitable for infants under six months, weighing 400 grams, are now priced at 337,000 LBP, while types meant for special conditions, i.e., special formula, are priced at 376,000 LBP.

For children older than six months, who are in the second stage of formula, the 900-gram package now costs 776,000 LBP.
