Ukrainian military officials announced today, Sunday, that Russia launched a drone attack on Kyiv and the surrounding area last night for the first time in 12 days, with air defense systems destroying all incoming targets.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported that the Russian attack involved eight Iranian-made Shahed drones and three cruise missiles, which were successfully intercepted.
Ruslan Kravchenko, the military commander for the Kyiv region, stated that three houses were damaged due to debris from the drones falling in the area, and one person was injured. Witnesses from Reuters reported hearing explosions resembling air defense systems hitting targets. No information has been released regarding potential damage.
Air raid sirens rang out in Kyiv and its region, as well as in several areas of central and eastern Ukraine, after 2 AM local time, warning of air strikes.
