The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called today, Thursday, on "all countries and regional and international organizations willing to provide humanitarian and relief assistance to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, to alleviate their suffering in response to the ongoing and intense Israeli bombardment, to deliver such assistance to Al-Arish International Airport, which has been designated by the Egyptian authorities to receive international humanitarian aid from various international bodies and organizations."
In a statement, the ministry emphasized that "the humanitarian responsibility and global moral values compel all conscientious individuals around the world to initiate support for the Palestinian people, who are currently facing many dangers." It further stressed that "the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and the Gaza Strip is open for operations and has not been closed at any stage since the outbreak of the current crisis. However, the repeated Israeli bombardment has led to the destruction of vital facilities on the Palestinian side, preventing its regular operation."
The ministry urged Israel to "avoid targeting the Palestinian side of the crossing so that repair and restoration efforts can succeed in enabling it to function as a crossing and a lifeline to support Palestinian brethren in the sector."
