Suspect in Megiddo Attack is Palestinian from a Lebanese Refugee Camp

Israeli Army radio announced this Thursday morning that "the attacker is of Palestinian origin from one of the refugee camps in Lebanon and is likely affiliated with a Hamas branch." The Israeli army had previously stated that security forces killed a man suspected of planting a bomb near the Megiddo junction close to Haifa. This was confirmed in a joint statement by the army, the Israel Security Agency (Shabak), and the Israeli police, following a significant media blackout on the matter. Over the past two days, questions have been increasing in the Israeli media regarding what occurred near the Megiddo junction and the reasons behind the publication ban on the case, amid speculations that the attacker used a "specific" explosive device similar to those used against Israeli forces during their invasion of southern Lebanon in 1982.
