In a children's hospital in the Syrian city of Aleppo in 2013, ISIS militants roamed without masks to conceal their identities, torturing their detainees during their control of the city, unaware that the hospital's cameras recorded these acts. These recordings, which may have gone unnoticed by the militants, are now significant after being obtained by the Commission for International Justice and Accountability, which investigates crimes committed by extremist groups for criminal prosecution. Chris Engels, the director of investigations and operations at the Commission for International Justice and Accountability, stated, "These video clips are critical evidence in any trial. We are able to verify the stories of the survivors among the victims."
