The Lebanese Communist Party organized a large popular demonstration under the title "No Option but Confrontation," which started from in front of the Central Bank of Lebanon and headed to the Parliament. This event saw the participation of Secretary General of the Popular Nasserite Organization, MP Osama Saad, along with several political, trade union, and popular figures, as well as a large crowd of citizens from various Lebanese regions. MPs Njatieh Sleiba and Captain Melhem Khalaf joined the demonstration upon its arrival at the entrance of the Parliament.
MP Saad emphasized the need to launch a political front to engage in the struggle against the ruling regime that controls the fate of the people. The Secretary General of the Lebanese Communist Party, Hanna Gharib, delivered a speech welcoming the participants, stating: "The Lebanese people are facing a war of extermination by a killing machine called a sectarian, subordinate political system. Our demonstration today is a deafening cry of anger: We will not commit suicide, and we will confront you wherever you may be. Our demonstration is a beginning, the first step that will lead to further actions in an open confrontation against their sectarian political projects, from federalism to a three-party system to extensive financial and political decentralization and any regressive amendment to the Taif Agreement."
He continued: "We are demonstrating today in the street to announce to our people our alternative project, a project that was proclaimed by the national and popular uprising of October 17: a secular state, a civil and non-sectarian state, a democratic state with social justice, a state capable of liberating its occupied land from the Zionist enemy and protecting its oil and gas wealth." Gharib concluded: "All greetings to the public sector uprising that has been ongoing for two months, and to all independent labor and professional unions and committees that are sitting in and mobilizing in the streets. Our demonstration is one of support and endorsement for all of them."
