On Wednesday, Israeli aircraft dropped leaflets over Syrian territory warning Syrian President Bashar Assad about the presence of Hezbollah within his country and the facilitation provided by the regime to the group. Local sources indicated that the leaflets were dropped in Quneitra province (south) and included a threat to the regime if it did not change its policy regarding Hezbollah.
According to the sources, Israel addressed the "Syrian security forces," stating: "Recently, Israel is seriously considering the Syrian regime's policy that allows Hezbollah to operate freely in the region." It added: "The Syrian regime grants crossing cards at security checkpoints to Hezbollah members, who pose a threat to the population in the region and to the State of Israel. We demand that the Syrian regime change its policy. We will not allow Hezbollah and the movement of terrorists in the area, and those who have been warned have been warned," according to the leaflet.
