The spokesperson for the military administration in Odessa, Serhii Bratchuk, stated that Ukrainian forces destroyed an important ammunition depot near the coastal city of Henichesk, which is occupied by Russia in the Kherson region of southern Ukraine. In a video message this morning, he said, "Our armed forces delivered a strong strike this morning, a very loud strike, in the village of Rykiv in the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region." He added, "There was a very important ammunition depot. It has been destroyed." Ukrainian media outlets released footage showing a thick column of smoke rising into the sky accompanied by loud explosions. Rykiv is located about 20 kilometers from Henichesk, the coastal city overlooking the Sea of Azov in southern Ukraine, which has been occupied by Russian forces since the early days of the invasion in February 2022.
