The French Foreign Ministry announced that Paris will host a meeting dedicated to Lebanon on Monday, involving representatives from France, the United States, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egypt, in an effort to encourage Lebanese politicians to find a way out of the crisis their country is facing.
French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna, currently in Saudi Arabia, expressed her "serious concern about the political deadlock in Lebanon," as stated by the ministry spokesperson Anne-Claire Legendre during a press conference.
She added that France discussed with the Saudis and other regional partners ways to encourage the Lebanese political class to take responsibility and find a way out of the crisis. Legendre clarified that "this approach will be the subject of a follow-up meeting on Monday with the French, American, Saudi, Qatari, and Egyptian administrations to continue coordinating with our partners and finding ways to move forward."
According to the spokesperson, the goal of the meeting is to encourage the Lebanese political class to break the deadlock.
