Mohammad Rade, the head of the "Loyalty to the Resistance" bloc, asserted at a memorial event in the southern town of Qana'rit that "Hezbollah is committed to the Taif Agreement and does not wish to alter it in any way, nor will it call for any amendments." He added, "We only want to implement what is stated in the text of the Taif." He stated, "We do not call for a new political formula. In our opinion, if the Taif is applied as written, we could overcome many problems and crises." He continued, "We want a president of the republic we can trust not to betray the resistance, yet we are internally exercising all calm methods to communicate with others to achieve the country's interests, but the other side has become tense, and we do not know why."
