The German federal prosecutor announced the arrest of two alleged members of Hezbollah on Wednesday, suspected of recruiting and organizing activities for the Iran-backed movement, as reported by "Bayern Daily." The federal prosecutor's office stated in a release that the Lebanese individuals are "Hassan M." and "Abdul Latif W." It was clarified that "Abdul Latif W." joined the party "at the latest" in 2004, while "Hassan M." joined in 2016. Both face charges of "belonging to a foreign terrorist organization."
It is alleged that the two represent Hezbollah in the Bremen region of northern Germany, overseeing organization and logistical matters. The suspects are set to appear before a judge who will decide whether to remand them in custody or not.
Germany banned activities of the political wing of the group, which regularly organizes anti-Israel demonstrations, in 2020.
