Chinese Premier Li Qiang expressed his country's commitment to openness in the world's second-largest economy and to implementing reforms that could help stimulate growth, stating that geopolitical tensions will only hinder global development. Li made his remarks at an international business summit in Hainan, marking his latest call to boost China's economic recovery amid strained relations with the United States and its allies over various issues ranging from Russia's war in Ukraine to technology exports and Taiwan. He added, "We will introduce a series of new measures to expand market access and improve the business environment... peace is a prerequisite for development." In his speech, Li emphasized that "chaos and conflicts" should not occur in Asia, adding that China will work as a "pillar" for global peace. His comments were made during a session attended by the Prime Ministers of Malaysia, Singapore, and Spain, all of whom have close trade and diplomatic ties with Beijing.
