The U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) announced today, Tuesday, military assistance worth $2.6 billion for Ukraine. The aid includes aerial reconnaissance radars, anti-tank missiles, fuel trucks, and 105-liter fuel trailers, along with funding for training and maintenance. This announcement comes as Ukraine prepares to launch an attack against Russia. Of the $2.1 billion in the military aid package announced today, $2.1 billion is funded by the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, which allows President Joe Biden's administration to purchase weapons from companies instead of drawing from U.S. weapon stocks. The remaining amount of $500 million comes from the presidential drawdown of military assistance for Ukraine, which allows the president to withdraw from existing U.S. stocks in emergencies.
