Attempted Assassination and Tension in Ain al-Hilweh Camp

Tension prevails in Ain al-Hilweh camp following an attempted assassination of an Islamic activist in the lower street, where an unknown gunman opened fire on him near Khaled Ibn Al-Walid Mosque. Two rocket explosions were also heard, the echoes of which resonated in the city of Sidon. Reports indicate one fatality and three injuries. The Lebanese army has taken strict security measures at its checkpoints and in its positions surrounding the camp and at its entrances.
