Bulgarian marathon runner Kras Georgiev will be enclosed in a glass box for 15 days in a park in Sofia, the capital, to raise funds to help young people combat various forms of addiction. Georgiev, a motivational speaker and charity ambassador, has participated in nearly 30 ultramarathons around the world, from the Arctic to Cambodia, and has also raced 217 kilometers in Death Valley, California. He told Reuters, "I want to challenge myself... I want to show how a person's mental state changes when placed in a box."
The funds raised will be spent on various projects aimed at preventing addiction among those under 18, including drug abuse, alcohol consumption, digital social media addiction, and energy drinks. A three-walled glass box has been set up on a base in front of the National Palace of Culture in Sofia, and during his experience, which began today, Georgiev will have a bed and a treadmill. He will not be allowed to use any books, computer, or phone, but he will have the opportunity to speak with the public for only 30 minutes each day.
