Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad announced today, Sunday, that visits by Syrian officials to some Arab countries recently were driven by a mutual desire and aimed at closing the chapter of the past and opening a new page in relations with the Arab world.
In response to a question in an interview with "Algeria International" channel regarding Syria's return to the Arab League, Mekdad stated that this "will be nearly impossible before correcting bilateral relations."
Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune received Syrian Foreign Minister today, Sunday, who was carrying a message from Syrian President Bashar Assad. Faisal Mekdad arrived in Algeria yesterday, Saturday, on an official visit aimed at strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to develop them. Last month, Syrian President Bashar Assad held an official discussion session with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the Al Watan Palace in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi.
