Russian Airstrikes Target Hayat Tahrir al-Sham Near Idlib

Russian media reported today, Tuesday, that Admiral Vadim Kolet stated the Russian Air Force bombed what it described as a "surveillance center" for the militant group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham near the city of Idlib on Monday. Kolet, who serves as the deputy head of the Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria, mentioned that 17 individuals were killed in the Russian attack.

He said, "On August 21, the attack by Russian aerospace forces on a surveillance center of the terrorist organization Hayat Tahrir al-Sham in the village of Bekfaloun (four kilometers southwest of Idlib) resulted in the elimination of 17 militants." Hayat Tahrir al-Sham is a militant group known previously as the Al-Nusra Front. The United States, Turkey, Russia, and other countries classify Hayat Tahrir al-Sham as a terrorist organization.
