Continuous heavy rains swept through some areas in southwestern China on Friday, causing floods and submerging roads and parts of some buildings. China's Central Television (CCTV) reported that rainfall in the city of "Yulin" lasted for 35 hours until 7 AM local time (11:00 PM GMT Thursday). The report added that "traffic between Beihai and the nearby Weizhou Island will be completely suspended from June 10 to June 12."
The water level in the city of "Beihai" in the Guangxi region reached 453 millimeters on Thursday, marking the onset of the first wave of heavy summer rains, known locally as "Dragon Boat Water." The Chinese Meteorological Administration stated, "this is a daily record for June in the region."
