Syrian President Bashar Assad and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin discussed ways to halt the Israeli assault on the Gaza Strip during a phone call on Monday. The two presidents emphasized the urgent need for "the immediate provision of humanitarian aid to civilians in the area, and to stop the bombing and displacement carried out by the Israeli entity against innocent people in Gaza."
