Russian Court Rejects Appeal Against Detention of Wall Street Journal Reporter

A Moscow court rejected an appeal today, Tuesday, by American journalist Evan Gershkovich against the decision to detain him pending trial. This means he will remain in one of the former Soviet intelligence agency "KGB" prisons until at least May 29, while he is being investigated in a espionage case. His attorney, Tatyana Nozkina, indicated that his legal team requested his release on a bail of 50 million rubles (approximately $614,000) or placement under house arrest, both of which the court denied.
