The "Telegraph" reported, citing a report on the financial situation of the British royal family, that the heating temperature at Buckingham Palace has been lowered amid rising energy prices. The newspaper's article stated: "Guests, staff, and the royal family lived at a temperature of 19 degrees Celsius inside the palace during the winter, with empty rooms being a few degrees colder."
It was noted that heating was usually reduced "to a minimum" during weekends, and old gas lamps were no longer used, as there are plans to replace them with electric lamps. The article also mentioned that the heating of the swimming pool was halted at the initiative of King Charles III.
According to the newspaper's information, this cost-cutting is due to rising energy prices, the palace restoration program, and the expenses for Queen Elizabeth II's funeral. Last year, the royal palace spent more than it earned, forcing the royal family to withdraw over £20 million from its reserves.
