Threads Surpasses ChatGPT as the Fastest Growing Platform

Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced on Monday that the Threads platform exceeded 100 million users within five days of its launch, challenging ChatGPT for the title of the fastest-growing internet platform. Threads recorded record user growth since its launch last Wednesday, with celebrities, politicians, and other content creators joining the platform, which analysts consider to be the first major threat to Twitter, owned by Elon Musk.

Zuckerberg mentioned in a post on Threads, "This is mostly spontaneous interest; we haven't offered many promotions yet." The Threads app significantly surpassed OpenAI's ChatGPT, which became the fastest-growing app in history by reaching 100 million users in January after two months of launching, according to a study by UBS. Analysts noted that recent disruptions surrounding Twitter, including the restrictions imposed on the number of tweets users could see, might have helped Threads attract users and advertisers. Currently, there are no advertisements on the Threads app, and Zuckerberg stated, "The company will not consider generating revenue until we reach one billion users."
