The French Foreign Ministry denied, on Monday, accusations from military officials in Niger that French security forces used lethal means to confront an attack by supporters of the military council on the Paris embassy in Niamey on Sunday. In a statement, it said, "The French embassy in Niamey was violently attacked by groups that were clearly well-organized, which the Nigerien security forces did not fully control." The statement added, "Contrary to what some Nigerien military officials say, French security forces did not use any lethal means."
