The Advanced Technology Research Council in the UAE confirmed today, Thursday, that the emirate of Abu Dhabi will make a large-scale artificial intelligence model, the "Falcon 40B," available as open source to support research and commercial applications.
The council stated in a press release that "in order to empower access to integrated capabilities in the field of large language models, establish foundations of transparency, and support innovation, development, and research in this sector, the Technology Innovation Institute will provide the open-source version of the AI model."
It added: "While most language AI models have granted exclusive licenses to non-commercial users only, the institute has made significant progress in providing access to the Falcon 40B language model for researchers and commercial users."
The "Falcon 40B" model is a language model that contains 40 billion parameters and is trained to handle over a trillion tokens, developed by the Technology Innovation Institute, which is a research center under the Advanced Technology Research Council in the UAE.
