After swarms of locusts invaded fields and agricultural crops in the Amazigh region of Tata, in southeastern Morocco, warnings and concerns have heightened regarding their potential spread to other regions considered the "agricultural reservoir of Morocco." Residents have issued a distress call to the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, Mohammed Sadiki, urging the need to reveal the measures his ministry will take to combat the locust plague.
Deputy Naima Al-Fatihawi stated that the locusts have devastated both green and dry crops, particularly targeting fruit trees. The National Center for Locust Control, part of the General Directorate of Civil Protection, continues to spray pesticides to eliminate this pest that has ravaged fields and caused significant losses to farms.
