European Union: The Demarcation Agreement is an Important Achievement

The European Union welcomed the "announcement of the agreement following negotiations between Lebanon and Israel regarding the demarcation of their maritime boundaries," commending the "constructive spirit of both parties in this effort, as well as the role played by the United States." It indicated that "the agreement reached by the parties is an important achievement, and its implementation will contribute to their stability and prosperity, as well as the stability and prosperity of the region." It stated: "We encourage the parties to continue their constructive work, including towards cooperation in energy and regional development, which is essential in times of international security challenges and the global energy crisis." It noted that it "will remain ready to continue developing partnerships with Lebanon and Israel and to support efforts aimed at achieving regional cooperation for the benefit of all."
