In Iraq: Human Trafficking Network Dismantled, Planned to Sell Two Children

The Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency in the Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced on Saturday the "dismantling of a human trafficking network that planned to sell two children for $20,000." The agency stated in a statement that "its specialized teams for combating human trafficking in Babil province, through a tight ambush and in the act, managed to dismantle a human trafficking network and apprehend its members while safeguarding two children who were with them, one aged 4 years and the other an unknown baby who is not registered." It added, "The network was planning to sell the children for 30 million Iraqi dinars ($20,000)," noting that "the members of the network openly admitted to engaging in human trafficking and conspiring to sell the two children."
